Charging your gadgets via solar panels is old news and, to be honest, so is charging your gadgets when cycling. However, the BioLogic ReeCharge from Dahon deserves a mention here just for doing it just a little bit cooler than others.
The ReeCharge is a 1600 mAh Lithium Battery that gets strapped to your bike and plugged into your dynamo (not included). When you’re cycling around in the day you won’t need to use your light and so you can instead use the power being generated by your dynamo and store it in this battery.
Once you’ve got some juice in there you can hook up any gadget that charges via USB to it; phones, MP4s and SatNavs are all good choices. You don’t have to keep it strapped to your bike to charge your gadgets either – simply undo the clips, stick the battery in your bag and you’ve got portable juice. Perfect for it you’re cycling somewhere and need to charge your gizmo once you get there.
If you don’t have a bike the ReeCharge is still useful to you as you can charge the pack up by plugging it into your computer. You’ve then got portable power without exercising, although there are cheaper options available for doing this. 5 common connectors are included for getting the power straight from the battery to your gadget, but anything with a USB lead will work just fine.
